The browser chrome allows us to put things on the page that aren't part of the application design (such as notes around the sides, and our own branding). It's very possible to allow the existing browser chrome to handle the whole prototype, but then more difficult to add extra notes and annotations around. I also like that the added chrome allows me to control prototype resolution and show the design being centered relative to its container. Good question, Holger.
